I went to this school in 2003 for just one year and the school experience was a mixture of amazing and horrifying. The staff did not care at all about bullying or tormenting behavior they were outright negligent to students in need, but the school was dedicated to sending messages. I remember that for Mardi Gras they had the most elaborate celebration I had ever seen a school do. The principal was carried in on a four man throne and there was a day long celebration in honor of the event. Their homecoming was also held at some kind of hotel with professional photographers. They had guest speakers come in very often and share stories, whether it was a message of consequential behavior, or people losing loved ones to the war going on at that time. It was really a unique experience. One I could never forget.
This school is not good. Half the teachers are lazy, they didn't even make us do anything in P.E. Even some of the teachers use drugs. There are too many fights, and one of the sheriffs threatened to arrest my mother ONLY because she was trying to get him to do something about an illegally parked car in the pickup line for cars. The only thing that makes this school good is a few of the great teachers, that's it. Not recommended.
What can I say about this school besides terrible things? nothing. everything about it was terrible, most of the staff DON'T teach they just go by the book and pass on the day, the building is crap, i understand that its old but its still pretty bad, the students fail electives classes for some reason (from the point of view of a student myself who has no problems with grades) and don't want to try and wonder why they are failing a class. You can tell that the staff show favoritism really well, allowing certain people excuse a tardy just cause they are on the football team or some other cliched crap. they want to be an A school, but the sole reason they can't is because the school's framework is already tattered, torn, and obsolete. the technology too is obsolete, having computers there that are barely functioning and collected dust since the last time the school got a new building. I swear i could have gotten food poisoning from the lunch and is the sole purpose i bring food from home now. I do not think this school is going to change for quite awhile, i do not recommend enrolling your children here if you had the choice of not going to louisiana.
Great classroom settings teacher to students.
The building was crap, they focused entirely on football and sports, and they have no creative electives for students, but the reason i gave it three stars is because while they do suck heavily, if you know your teacher beyond the fact that they teach, theyre very great people. A lot of things wrong and everything is outdated but the teachers kinda liven the place up, depending on the ones you see on a day-to-day basis. Like I was reading a review about Mr. Lee causing someones anxiety and how terrible of a teacher he is but really, if you do your work and dont disrupt class, Mr. Lee becomes more like a best friend that is older but also the coolest science teacher ever.
